PIKES PEAK OPERA LEAGUE LEADER NAMED TO
OPERA THEATRE OF THE ROCKIES BOARD
 

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Opera Theatre of the Rockies (OTR) recently named long-time arts patron and community opera supporter Dr. Susan Rae Jensen onto the Executive Board as Vice President, by unanimous vote.   

"Dr. Jensen has worked tirelessly over many years to support both the Pikes Peak Opera League and Opera Theatre of the Rockies, as well as arts organizations throughout the Southwest! We are thrilled to have her as vice president," says Solveig Olsen, Opera Theatre Board President. 

Dr. Jensen, a long-time supporter of performing arts in our community and beyond, has always had a special love of opera. A performer herself, she has had extensive classical voice training with the honor of being a Metropolitan Opera audition finalist. She has been the soprano soloist in hundreds of solo recitals and concerts, musical theater and opera performances and scenes as well as soloist for many oratorios. Recently she was the featured soloist in multiple concerts, inclusive of Britten's Ceremony of Carols and Handel' Messiah, featured soprano vocalist for spirituals at First Christian and "About the Negro Spiritual," as well as benefit concerts for Santa Fe Opera. Of her more than 50 benefit concerts, many have been for Colorado Opera Festival and its Guild, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Santa Fe Opera, Colorado Springs symphony concerts and programs for its Guild, as well as for PPOL. She holds Awards of Appreciation and Distinction in vocal performance from Colorado Opera Festival, Colorado Springs Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Pikes Peak Opera League, and has a Lifetime Achievement Award with lifetime membership from Pikes Peak Opera League. Most recently she served five years as the PPOL President, and serves today as the immediate Past-President.

"Dr. Jensen has been an integral member of our opera family for many years now and i am thrilled to welcome her to our Executive Committee as our new Vice President," says Martile Rowland, Opera Theatre Artistic Director and Founder. "She will continue to bring enthusiasm, energy, and creativity to our Board and will be a wonderful leader for our future endeavors."

"My passion has been to support creative endeavors in the arts and sciences, so that each individual can realize their special gifts and talents," says Dr. Jensen.
